Nürnberg, Third Erasmus+ meeting of #FosteringGlobalGoals

16 Març 2025

Sunday 16

A new Erasmus+ journey begins!
Our students Leo, Iker, Mayra and Alexia have started their German adventure today with a two-flight journey from Barcelona and Frankfurt to Nürnberg.

Alexia & Iker's chronicle.

Monday 17

The first day at school.
After the official welcome speech made by the head of studies, there was a school round tour and a surprise prepared by the youngest students of our school who welcomed the partners with a very, very short concert playing the flutes. Then, the students could know more about their partners thanks to some ice breaking activities completed with the schools’ presentations.
After lunch, we all went to the historical city and students could discover its hidden gems by a treasure-hunt activity carried out by local students. Despite the cold weather, it was a lovely start of the week and something they all appreciated.

Leo & Mayra's Chronicle of the first Erasmus+ day.

Tuesday 18

Out to the woods!
The week’s topic, climate change and environmental sustainability, started today with a visit to Nürnberg Imperial Forest, a wildlife area where our students could see the effects that forests have in our life, from water supply, animal preservation or also how climate change can affect diversity of trees. Later on, local students explained different school projects related to environment and sustainability.
In the afternoon, they visited the National Museum of Germany, where they got to know more about the history of Germany until the Renaissance through archaeology, sculpture or painting. It was a really worthwhile day and we all hope tomorrow is like that!

The chronicle.

Wednesday 19

Conference in progress
The day started with a workshop held by the local environmental agency on environmental issues like water supply or air pollution and how these are treated by the local government.
A second presentation was made about how to use social media in a responsible way. Since it’s not just knowing about our situation on the planet right now, but also reporting information, using it and understanding it as best as possible to educate ourselves correctly.
Activities ended before lunch and, after that, they spent the whole afternoon with their fellow partners, enjoying the city on their own and discovering more about it.

Leo & Mayra's Chronicle of the first Erasmus+ day.

Thursday 20

Our students are really enjoying the week and look anything but bored. The week is nearly done and final work needs to be done. Today, the morning was dedicated to a workshop about social media and advertising campaigns. They started working on their final product of the week, an oral presentation in which they talk about an environment-related issue of interest and how it is treated in each visiting city.
In the afternoon, it was time to visit the Reichsparteitagsgelände, the area where the Nazi government held their solemn parades and tried to impress the World. The entire Erasmus team enjoyed the guide explanations despite the tiredness after such an intense week, and teachers really hope it’s really useful for them to understand and consider society’s current challenges and opportunities for a better and fairer future.

Leo & Iker's chronicle.

Friday 21

All good things come to an end.
Today’s our last day at the school. Our boys and girls started the day with a birthday cake to Sude, one of the Turkish girls, and went on with their group presentations about waste reduction, air quality and pollution, deforestation, green spaces and endangered species.
Diplomas were given at the end of the morning to the whole Erasmus+ group.
All students went back home and spent the rest of the day in a minigolf-in-the-dark & body painting experience, where the whole group enjoyed their last afternoon together.

Alexia & Mayra's Chronicle of the last Erasmus+ day.

Saturday 21

Bis bald Nürnberg!
It’s time to go back home. Our students left their guest homes in the morning on the way to Munich Airport.
The flight from there was perfect even though the nostalgic feeling started to show much earlier.
They have been able to meet other families, habits and another school system, as well as other students from Germany and other countries with whom they will surely keep in touch and have built a strong relationship.
See you at the fourth and final #FosteringGlobalGoals meeting in Samsun, Turkey.

Tuesday 12

The week goes on and on our second day, we visited Els Espigoladors (The gleaners), a non-profit organization which fights for better food usage, reducing farm losses and food waste, guaranteeing the right to a healthy diet and creating job opportunities for people at risk of social exclusion. Groups of volunteers collect fruits and vegetables that can’t be sold in the market because of price reduction, supply excesses or they look bad but they are edible and this discarded food is used to make marmalade, tomato sauce or compote.
Later in the afternoon, a speech was held in the high school about teenagers at risk of social exclusion due to migration processes. Held by Pau and Tchaka from Casal dels Infants (“The children’s place”), a 27-year-old migrant from Mali, students could know and ask about what it is like to experience a journey like Tchaka did when he was a teenager like them and how he had to deal with issues like family, money problems, mafia abuse or travelling alone. He also explained how he felt when he finally arrived in Catalonia: language problems, job opportunities and many other aspects he mentioned and which our students really appreciated and is hopefully useful for their future opportunities in life and throughout Europe!

Wednesday 13

Third day of our Spanish meeting! In the morning, Fundación PorCausa has broadened our minds, making us think about how our minds work: they have shown us that framing the debate is essential when we want to convey an inclusive message that combats discrimination. In search of fighting stereotypes, for effective inclusion, we must find new lines of thinking that break with the narrative “us” vs “them” .
Rebelling against the pessimistic weather forecast, we visited Park Güell in the afternoon. Neither the wind nor the rain kept us from enjoying the day. The weather conditions won't quench our thirst for learning about the sustainable development goals!

Thursday 14

Erasmus+ is in the air! Today, our international team went to Torre Barrina in Collblanc to record a radio programme consisting of all the work they have been doing during the past days about inclusion, migration and job opportunities. All four working groups enjoyed it when they entered the recording studio and started talking with themselves comfortably as if they were real professionals. Heartfelt thanks to Jordi Mèlich, who made all this possible.
They continued in the afternoon with videos and getting everything ready for the final day. Later in the evening, all partners, teachers and host families gathered together at our high school to share experiences together and also those of some of our former Erasmus students. Let’s all hope this experience will be helpful for all of them!

Chronicle of the fourth Erasmus+ day

Friday 15

Good things come in small packages, people say. This week has been short, but intense. Our students have worked closely with their international partners, but they have also lived a wide range of experiences that have enriched their lives and expanded their communicative competencies. As for today’s activities, the day has begun with a meeting at the town hall with the mayor, the education councillor, and our headteacher. The significance of an inclusive Europe and the issues it addresses, the role of young people in this paradigm and how education is essential to not only continue this path, but to become even more inclusive and empathetic have been some of the main topics.
Then, our students returned to our high school to initiate a brainstorming session. Back in their stay in Portugal, students collectively decided to create a company whose main goal was to work on inclusiveness. Today, in small groups, they have taken their first steps to make that company a reality. Their task has been to come up with several feasible ideas they could implement in order to promote inclusive education in their high schools. To conclude the session, students have watched and analysed the videos they created yesterday.
We would like to finish this message by congratulating our partners for their effort and work done. As always, it has been an absolute privilege to meet you all and share this wonderful week with you. Have a safe journey back home and see you soon!
