On Wednesday the Baccalaureate students in Year 1 went to visit la Pedrera where they studied the typical architectonical elements of the Modernism of the great architect Antoni Gaudí. The guided visit was in English as every year but this year it was special due to the COVID measures: face mask, body temperature control, social distance and small groups.

All the planned activities were done except the interview to foreign people because of the lack of tourists in our city. And thanks to the sunny weather, the students could enjoy the fantastic views of our city from one of the most emblematic buildings in Barcelona.

The Baccalaureate students in Year 2 have visited the exhibition called “Aixafem el feixisme” and have realised the role of the propaganda carried out by the propaganda commission to disseminate what was happening in Catalonia during the Civil War. This commission also helped to boost the morale of the Republican combatants, to raise funds, to recruit international soldiers and volunteers and to support the Republic.

Thanks to all the photos, documents, posters and the documentary, the students have better understood the importance of the propaganda during the war and the efforts and wok carried out by the “Comissariat of propaganda” to support the Republican combatants.

The pandemic has created revenue losses in many sectors, especially in bars and restaurants. Many restaurants have closed, but others are looking for solutions. That’s the topic that the Baccalaureate students in Year 1 have prepared in the English class and after watching 2 videos about possible solutions, they have discussed in pairs the advantages and disadvantages of the alternatives explained in the videos.

The first one is about a restaurant called“ Mediamatic” in Amsterdam which has installed glass cabins to ensure the social distance. The other alternative is presented by a Swedish restaurant where the food is served in the middle of a field, via a basket attached to a rope.

El laboratori és un espai perfecte per fer experiments que ens ajudin a construir els coneixements i permetin verificar la part teòrica de la matèria de Física. En aquesta ocasió els alumnes de 1r de Batxillerat han tingut l'oportunitat de realitzar una pràctica que consistia en calcular l'acceleració de la gravetat.

Amb l'ajut de sensors i del software Multilog han mesurat les diferents posicions de la pilota que queia a mesura que el temps avançava. Després de diverses repeticions han constatat que la gràfica posició-temps és una paràbola i han deduït l'acceleració a la que estava sotmesa. Finalment, han relacionat aquestes gràfiques amb les que de forma també teòrica van estudiar a Matemàtiques el curs passat.

Una experiència que també els ajuda a comprendre el mètode científic, la importància de la sistematització de processos i la cura en la presa de dades.

Quin serà el pròxim experiment ?

Oops!! Ho hem tornat a fer. Bé, volem dir que els nostres alumnes ho han tornat a fer. Si l'any passat els 13 alumnes que es presentaven a les PAU les van aprovar, aquest curs 19-20 no han volgut ser menys i han tornat a aprovar el 100% de les noies i nois. La veritat és que tota la família de l'Europa n'estem molt contents i molt orgullosos. Des d'aquí volem felicitar-los a tots i desitjar-los moltíssima sort a la facultat que hagin triat.
